Misc - Posted by Jackyd - 09/01/2010 - 17:17
Multiplay have released the initial Prize funds for the upcoming i39 i-series lan.
This shows things are definitaly on the way back up in the e-sports world as the prize funds are now increasing across the board and also the surprise addition of HoN to the tournaments. Aslong as each games community gets together and makes the numbers up then things can only go forwards again from here.

Here's the press relesease taken from the Mulitplay Website - http://iseries.multiplay.co.uk/
Counter-Strike Source (PC)
First up, for the PC we are pleased to announce another prize winning Counter-Strike Source tournament, held for the 16th event in a row! We have a guaranteed £2,500 up to grabs, and we’re currently seeking funding from other sources to try and increase this to as high as possible. Should we see 96 teams commit to and enter the tournament, we’ll have a massive £5,000 up for grabs!
Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare (PC)
Secondly we’re proud to announce the return of the Call of Duty 4 prize winning tournament for i39. We’re committing a minimum of £2,500, with the potential for a massive £5,000 should we get 96 teams! As with CS:S and our other prize winning tournaments, we’re strongly seeking funding from other avenues and parties to help us make this tournament the huge return that this game deserves.
Heroes of Newerth (PC)
Third up for the PC, we have a new game for the i-Series; Heroes of Newerth! Our i39 tournament will be the highest prize funded HON tournament ever in the world to date! One of the fastest growing communities we’ve ever experienced, we’re very excited about Heroes of Newerth and we’re committing a minimum of £1,000 to a prize winning tournament! Should 48 teams sign up, the prize fund will hit £2,500, and should 96 teams up we’ll be giving away a huge sum of £5,000!
Team Fortress (PC)
Last but not least for the PC, we have our Team Fortress 2 tournament, with at least £1,500 increasing up to a massive £5,000! After the community rallied behind the tournament run at i38, we’re committing once again for a minimum guaranteed cash prize. Should 48 teams sign up, the prize fund will hit £2,500, and should 96 teams up we’ll be giving away a huge sum of £5,000!
Halo 3: ODST (Xbox 360)
For the Xbox 360 we’ve got Halo 3: ODST, now a staple of i-Series tournaments. There is a confirmed minimum of £1,500 up for grabs, increasing should the community support the tournament and attend in large numbers. Should 48 teams sign up, the prize fund will hit £2,500, and should 96 teams up we’ll be providing a huge sum of £5,000!
Responding to feedback from i38, our Xbox 360 tournaments will currently be limited to BYOX entrants only, and players will need to bring their own copies of the games used in the tournaments. We will be creating a new Turn up and Play ticket for our Xbox 360 tournaments in the near future. This will be in place in plenty of time ready for i39, and we’re also looking into running more Xbox 360 tournaments for i39.
Just to recap, here’s what we’ve got ready for i39 in this first release:
- a minimum of £2,500 for Counter-strike: Source on the PC
- a minimum of £2,500 for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the PC
- a minimum of £1,500 for Team Fortress 2 on the PC
- a minimum of £1,000 for Heroes of Newerth on the PC
- a minimum of £1,500 for Halo 3 ODST on the Xbox 360
