i38 announces it's tournament prize funds

The summer is over, and the winter LAN season is going to start soon. That means that the i-series is looming on the horizon. i38 is looking like it is going to be a trip down memory lane, with the venue moving from Stoneleigh Park back to Newbury Racecourse.

But though they are going "old school" they are still sticking with the tournaments they have been building up over the last year at Stoneleigh Park. However, this is rocky periods financially, and so the guaranteed £5,000 of previous years for multiple games is now gone.

However, that does not mean that they aren't offering anything. They are giving away the following prizes:

CounterStrike: Source - Guaranteed £2,500 - looking for partners to increase this

Call of Duty - TBA - Unsure which game to support

Team Fortress 2 - Up to £2,500 - provided 64 teams sign up

Halo 3 - Guaranteed £2,500

Street Fighter 4 - £500

Battlefield 2 - £500

As you can see this is still a good spread of prizes. It will also be interesting to see how much is given to Call of Duty, with MW2 coming out just before the event. Will we see someone in and provide a decent amount of money for it? We will have to wait and see. But for now let's hope they find someone else to invest in the CS:S tournament to up that and attract some of the big teams back to Newbury.
